I was reading in Genesis this week about Jacob, the son of Isaac and the grandson of Abraham. Now, if you haven't read Jacob's story, Jacob was not the most honest guy. He stole his brother's birthright and tricked his father on his deathbed. Being the grandson of Abraham, Jacob had probably grown up hearing about God, listening to stories of how God promised Abraham that his descendents would be as numerous as the stars.
Maybe Jacob was like some kids today, thinking they've got it all squared away with God because their parents or grandparents have a great relationship with God. Well, one night Jacob had a dream in which God spoke to him. The next morning Jacob made a decision that the Lord would be his God. He had to make this decision for himself. It couldn't just be based on his family's relationship with God.
Have you made the decision to follow God for yourself? If not, He is seeking you today and desires to have a relationship with you. God loves you so much that He sent his one and only son to die on the cross for you that you might have eternal life. Seek Him today!
