Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene

We are a church seeking to reach the lost and hurting. Our desire is to create an environment where faith, hope, and love in Christ are celebrated through Praise and Worship.

Sally Woodard

My Family

Sally Woodard was born and raised in Beckley, WV. She has two supportive parents who still live in Beckley today. Sally moved to Portsmouth in 2005 and married her best friend, Brent Woodard on April 28, 2007. She is now stepmom to a beautiful daughter, Tristan. The Woodard family began attending Portsmouth First in the winter of 2006.

Academics

Sally attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV for 6 years, earning her Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology in 2001. She is currently employed by the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center as a Preschool Speech Therapist. Sally has been called to music ministry for the past 7 years and served as Youth Choir Director at United Methodist Temple in Beckley for 4 years, touring with the choir each summer on music/mission trips. In addition, she gave voice lessons for several vocalists in the Beckley area upon moving back to Beckley. Sally has been the Praise and Worship Leader at Portsmouth First since January 2007.

Hobbies

Sally, Brent, and Tristan also love to play games, go to concerts, and take road trips. She and Brent enjoy making music together at Portsmouth First, with Sally singing and Brent playing drums. She enjoys cooking, reading Nicholas Sparks novels, going to the movies, and exercising, specifically walking, riding her bike, hiking, and taking the step class offered at the church.

A few words

Several years ago I never would have dreamed that God would give me the opportunity to be the Praise and Worship Leader at my church home. But that just shows you that God can see things in you that you cannot see in yourself. And now I truly feel it is my calling. It is my hope that our music will help create the environment that enables people to connect with God on a personal level at each service. We were created to praise Him and what better way than with songs of praise and worship. As Praise and Worship Leader, I invite you to join us in the experience of true celebration, as we lift our voices to the Lord.
